Dinosaurs

The kids were really excited to begin their lesson on Dinosaurs.  It was a very popular topic.

We began discussing that dinosaurs are no longer alive and that they lived a REALLLLY long time ago!  (It's hard to explain millions of years to children but I tried!)  We talked about all different types of dinosaurs, from many different periods.  We talked about the difference between omnivores, herbivores, and carnivores and which of our favorite dinosaurs ate plants and which ate meat.

It was fascinating to learn just how big some dinosaurs were and to find out how much bigger they were than US!  We measured our hants and feet against a Tyrannosaurus Rex's footprint (some of us could sit on it!) and found out some dinosaur's teeth were as big as bananas!

Many of the children taught me interesting facts they already knew about dinosaurs.  We pretended to be paleontologists and archeologists and we went on a dinosaur dig and investigated dinosaurs bones and dinosaur eggs!  We were real scientists during centers!

I took a ton of pictures over the course of these two weeks because the kids were just having so much fun!
