This week the children and I discussed what makes a bird a bird: feathers, wings, beak, vertebrate (back bone), lay eggs, warm-blooded, etc. We talked about the many types of beaks different species of birds have and what their purposes are (eating different types of food). We also learned that not all birds fly!
During center time, we made bird feeders and pretended to be birds with beaks. We also made nests and searched for worms, just like a bird would.
